Invisalign is a teeth straightening system designed to gradually straighten your teeth invisibly by using a series of clear, removable aligners. Invisalign, invisible braces, straightens your teeth without using bands, metal brackets or metal wires making Invisalign more visually appealing than traditional braces. As with traditional braces, bands, metal brackets and metal wires may irritate the inside of your mouth, but with Invisalign, the aligners are smooth and comfortable.
Because the aligners are removable, you can brush and floss your teeth as normal and continue to eat your favorite foods. In addition, the aligners are clear making it nearly impossible for anyone to tell you are wearing Invisalign unless you tell them. If your teeth are crowded, crooked, unusually spaced apart or have moved since having metal braces, Invisalign may be right for you!
Only an
Invisalign Certified Invisalign Doctor can treat malocclusion (improper
alignment of your teeth) using Invisalign. Dr. Joiner is an Invisalign Certified Doctor providing many cosmetic dentistry services, such
as Invisalign. Here are the steps for determining
if Invisalign is right for you and if so, the steps to getting Invisalign:
Step One: Consultation with a Certified Invisalign Doctor.
Upon
your initial examination, Dr. Joiner will determine if Invisalign is right
for you. In moderate to severe cases of malocclusion, traditional metal
braces are recommended over Invisalign, clear invisible braces. If Dr.
Joiner determines you are a candidate for Invisalign, an appointment for
records is arranged.
Step Two: Invisalign Invisible Braces are Created.
At your
records appointment, Dr. Joiner and his Invisalign trained assistants will
take x-rays, photographs and impressions of your teeth to create a treatment
plan for straightening your teeth. The treatment plan along with the latest
3-D computer imaging technology is used in the laboratory to create a series
of your clear aligners. The amount of clear aligners created (usually 15 to
30 aligners), depends on your specific circumstances.
Step Three: Regular Visits to your Dentist.
About every 2 weeks, you will replace your existing clear removable braces with
the next set in your series. About every 6 weeks, you will visit Dr. Joiner to ensure your treatment is progressing
properly. It typically takes 6 to 18 months to complete orthodontic
treatment with Invisalign invisible braces.
Step Four: Finishing Treatment.
Once you have finished wearing each aligner in the series and your teeth are straighten according to your treatment plan prescribed by Dr. Joiner you are finished with Invisalign. Now you will have the beautiful smile you have always wanted!
